I had the pleasure of opening the Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards 2023 Ceremony this week. Here is my rundown of the day including some highlights of the event and my saxophone performance.

I had an eventful week whilst involved in Time Out’s Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards. I was hired to provide Saxophone Performance alongside Singer Flory Tuchel and we certainly had a great time.
It is a pleasure regularly working with Flory, subsequently playing hundreds of gigs over the years we have known each other. We are consistently hired to perform together in small to large Jazz and Popular music groups. For this reason we have undeniably built a rapport unrivalled by few.
As a result we are known as trusted go to musicians who can strike a balance between an entertaining and sophisticated performance. On this circumstance we were hired as a duo specifically under Flory’s concept, named ‘Chapter 2.’
After a long day and drive down from Dubai dug straight into soundcheck. The audio visual team was on point and subsequently had things sounding quite good in a reasonable time.
We changed into our performance outfits, prepped the set and then it was showtime! I met a talented Dj playing on vinyl and of course we shared some mutual fiends. We had a quick chat before getting the A/V team on stand by.
The doors opened and we welcomed guests into the ballroom where the event was hosted and the awards awarded.

Everybody enjoyed the performance and we were pleased to set the mood for what was a great night. We were awarded a lovely meal for our efforts which prepared us for our drive home to Dubai. Most importantly the event was a success and were treated exceptionally well by the Time Out and Sofitel Corniche Abu Dhabi teams.
In conclusion I can say it was a pleasure being part of the Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards and I look forward to many more similar events in the future.
